E2Pack Partners with Hero to Automate a Jam Packaging Line

At Hero, at the Spain production facility in Alcantarilla (Murcia), E2Pack has delivered an automation project dedicated to the handling of jam jars within a high-capacity production line. The project was developed at one of Hero Group’s key industrial hubs, a historic name in the European food industry and today an international benchmark in the production of baby food, jams and healthy snacks.

The intervention covered the handling of empty jam jars at the line infeed, their transfer to the filling stage, and the subsequent palletizing of the packaged product. This is a seemingly “invisible” segment of the production process, yet a critical one for ensuring operational continuity, product quality and safe handling of glass containers.

At the line infeed, E2Pack integrated a jar depalletizing system designed to supply the downstream process stages in a consistent and orderly manner. Containers, initially arranged on pallets, are picked and transferred onto a conveying line that manages their separation, alignment and single-file arrangement, preparing them for entry into the jam filler.

The conveying line plays a key role in ensuring a smooth and regular flow. Through synchronized conveyors and speed control systems, the jars are progressively organized, reducing misalignments and micro-stoppages which, in production environments of this type, can have a significant impact on overall plant efficiency.

Downstream of the filling process, the E2Pack intervention is completed with a palletizing solution designed to ensure reliability, speed and repeatability in end-of-line operations. Here too, the configuration was tailored to the specific requirements of the facility and the available layout.

Overall, the project reflects E2Pack’s approach to developing custom automation solutions for the food industry, engineered to ensure process continuity, reliability and seamless integration within complex production environments.
